The Crypto Lark is a famous YouTuber from New Zeland. We had a chance to chat with him not just about his crazy Bitcoin journey to Australia, but also about his views on future crypto development. So here it comes!
Lark is a well-known YouTuber that specializes in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. His YouTube channel The Crypto Lark has nearly 100,000 subscribers. His tutorial on how to use Binance's cryptocurrency exchange has seen almost 320,000 people. Lark publishes cryptocurrency news, coin reviews, informative videos for newbies and interviews with interesting personalities on his channel. Thanks to our blockchainterview, we allowed him to look at the other side of the barricade and thus to be the person who answers the questions.
Hello Lark, thank you for joining our blockchainterview. Can you tell us something about yourself? Do you have IT background, or how you get in touch with Bitcoin first? Do you have some permanent outside-of-crypto job, or are you 100% in crypto only by doing YouTube channel, Patreon, Steemit etc.?
I got into bitcoin a few years ago, both for an investment opportunity and due to my ideological opposition to the banking system. YouTube is my full time job, which is amazing, there is nothing so great as living your passion.
Crypto Lark on his Bitcoin journey to Australia
In your Vlog called „How to Travel Queensland Australia on Bitcoin“ you lived 72 hours only on Bitcoin in your travel. Videos like this are super awesome for the adoption and make people think differently about crypto. That it really works! How did you like it and do you plan to make next trip like this?
My trip to Australia was amazing. It is such a great country to travel in and I always have a lot of fun when I go there. Travelling on Bitcoin was a cool experience, and it was amazing to see how many merchants, hotels, restaurants, and tour providers accept bitcoin. I might do another trip like that in the future.
Was the Australian trip just a test or do you use cryptocurrency while traveling to pay? Which place is your crypto-friendly experience?
It was mostly a test, but I do pay in crypto when I can, for example I frequently buy flights using cheap air or book hotels with Travala.
Crypto Lark was using Bitcoin whenever it was possible
How would you explain to the newbie in the simplest way and in one sentence why Bitcoin is revolutionary? Why we need it, when our debit cards and bank accounts do the same job?!
Bitcoin is the digital gold of the internet era. .......to the second part of the question. For many people just using their debit card is honestly easier and more convenient, but using bitcoin has a wide range of advantages for merchants, politically sensitive people, and those without access to the banking infrastructure which westerners enjoy.
Are you a bitcoin maximalist, or do you think other cryptocurrencies can find their justification?
No, I am not a bitcoin maximalist. I believe that a wide range of cryptocurrencies will be useful and find their place.
Do you think that gaming industry might have the biggest potential in blockchain space? Which gaming crypto projects are in your insight?
Gaming will be massive! It is such a perfect fit. Enjin is in my opinion the most promising gaming crypto, they have massive partnerships and really stand out with their token model.
Let’s talk about decentralization for a while. Do you think there could be something more decentralized than Bitcoin and PoW? Cardano is trying to move this direction. We should consider also upcoming ETF´s and institutions holding bags of Bitcoin, or even if few Sheiks decide to “buy it all”. This could make it less decentralized in some way. It might be a thread for the purpose Bitcoin was created, don’t you think so?
Decentralization is something that exists on a scale. There are ways in which Bitcoin is and is not decentralized. The most important thing is that the protocol continues to allow for censorship resistant transactions.
But if the Sheiks decide in the future, that they will trade oil for Bitcoin. Would be this good or bad for Bitcoin and crypto?
It would be both good and bad. It would mean the price would reach astronomical levels, but would also mean that much bitcoin would be in the hands of oil companies.
Do you think, that some kind of blackout or global power outage might have occur the end of crypto somehow in the future? Well, the UTXO´s will remain the same, but it still can be a problem. Paper money and gold don’t need electricity, right?
A global blackout could be a problem for sure, but if such a situation happens then we will have bigger problems than the price of bitcoin.
What's your opinion on decentralizing the Internet, cryptocurrency exchanges and social networks (Steemit, Minds, dTube)? Is that the right direction after decentralizing money? Can this help the society?
The internet is broken. It has become predatory. And no longer functions for people, but instead for corporations. We need to change this model.
What solution for Web 3.0 do you think is the best? It will definitely take some time to realize and get used for mases, but this might be the next step of decentralize everything, don’t you think?
The web of the future will be built by many interoperable blockchains.
Do you think that cashless society could be a potential problem in a future? It gives governments and banks power over the financial world. They can then track nearly everything. Also, quantitative easing and negative interest rates, which are on debate right now, could prevent us from recession. But on the other hand, it devaluates our savings.
Yes, a cashless society is certainly possible. Depends on if the governemts run the money or we run our own money, that will determine the character of our cashless society.
Do you think that the mass adoption is necessary for the future of Bitcoin and crypto? Maybe it isn’t important in short-term and mid-term view, because crypto simply MUST have the bright future, so its just a question of time, isn’t it?
Mass adoption is both important and inevitable.
Lark, what is your favourite statement?
Give a man a bitcoin and feed him for a day. Teach him the fundamentals about blockchain decentralized peer-to-peer finances and the evils of Central Reserve banks and lending all these things and you feed him for a lifetime!
That is great, thank you for the opportunity to have a chat with you. Good luck to your future work.
Thanks for having me, peace out!
